Zune 80GB for Preorder

If you haven’t checked out the Zune you need to look again. The new Zune, which many are calling the Zune 2, will hit shelves and websites in just about two weeks and it’s better than ever. It has a killer screen for video and this little model comes with an 80 GB hard drive. To be honest I really do love iPods because of their simplicity, but their bloody, bloated, system resource devouring, price monopolizing, drm whoring iTunes has got to go. Granted Zune Marketplace might not be the saviour of digital downloads, but the Zune is a much more hackable device allowing clever users to use it in a variety of ways to play almost any type of media format including: wmv, wrm, avi, mp3, etc. I think the ability to play avi files alone is a big enough advantage to choose a Zune over an iPod, let alone the fact that you can share music wirelessly with other Zune users, sync the new Zune to your computer wirelessly, and watch video in wide screen mode on a display larger than the iPod’s.

Anyway, enough of that, just check the preorder site on Amazonand you’ll see that the new generation of Zune is looking good.

And if you want a quick comparison chart just check over here on Zunescape.

Foo Fighters

Well, the Foo Fighters never seem to disappoint. I’ve heard it said that they are one of the most consistent rock bands currently out there and I would have to agree. Each and every album they turn out seems to be a pure and wonderful rock album. And, to be honest, we don’t get those very much anymore. Even the venerable RHCP seem to dabble a bit much in psychedelic funk to be called simply a rock band.

The Foo Fighters do have a new album coming September 25, available for preorder now, and I’m going to go ahead and say that it will be the best rock album of 2007. There, I said it, and there’s no going back now. And seriously, just check out the below video for the song The Pretender, and you’ll have to agree; Dave Grohl and company are genius.

mp3 : Foo Fighters - The Pretender
mp3 : Foo Fighters - Keep The Car Running (Arcade Fire Cover)The second track listed here is taken from the Foos recent performance on Radio 1 over yonder in Britain. They played a smashing set and are quite amazing on this cover of Arcade Fire.
