For those of you who are completely in the dark Disney is making a sequel to the cult classic Tron. The previews, and literally everything else surrounding the December launch of the movie, have been stellar so far. Mind bendingly stellar. As would only be appropriate for a movie of this tech nerd credibility the producers of the film somehow got the dynamic duo of Daft Punk to write the music for the film. From the few leaked tracks that skittered around the internets recently it appears as if the boys are definitely influenced by current soundtracks (most notably Hans Zimmer’s score for The Dark Knight) yet the curiously maintain their own blip and bleep Daft Punk flavor alive.

Both of these songs are instantly ready to be worked into almost any preview, for any half decent movie, set to come out in the next three to five years. A remix (possibly by Daft Punk themselves) could really set them off as well. Make sure you crank your volume for Track 4 (and make sure to note how much they seem to like Hans Zimmer. As reference listen to the score for The Dark Knight or Inception.)

actually, SickBoy, it’s not that old. there were six tracks that just recently hit the net less than a week ago.
anyway, the tracks that you link to do sound much more like typical daft punk than the six i’ve heard.
I’ve been hearing about this new Tron movie for quite sometime it seems but I’ve never been entirely interested seeeing as I only saw it when I was a kid and was never a big fan (though its appearence on Kingdom Hearts II certainly aroused my interests). Hearing these little pieces of the soundtrack has got me excited. I mean, I’ve always been a big fan of “dark Disney”, as you put it, and of course musical scores (in fact, I probably listen to non-vocal music more than anything), so of course I already WAS excited, but now, WOW. Thanks for mentioning this wonderful piece of the soundtrack.

Have you heard Hans Zimmer’s work on the Inception OST? It’s similar in the boom-y-ness, but more orchestral than electronic.
Both are still awesome.
@Tom – i have seen inception and i loved every detail of it. casting, special effects, slow motion cinematography, plot, and definitely musical score were all top notch.
the rest of the music for Tron Legacy (which at one point was rumoured to be named tr2n – which would have been clever) seems to be much more main stream Daft Punk. at least from what i’ve heard of it.
i am so excited for this movie! and stinking love the tracks you put up. i just saw the first tron and well, i’m pretty stoked for legacy.
