I havent’ had a chance to really fall in love with We Are Scientists but this cover they did just might work at changing my mind {and heart}. According to my sources this track hails back a long ways, but seeing as how I just discovered it this week I thought the least I could do was throw it up for everyone to enjoy. It’s not quite as, well, impressive as the original, but it just might be the best cover of a Sigur Ros song to date. Actually, and this is a direct challenge, has anyone actually heard any other band cover Sigur Ros? Ever?
mp3 : We Are Scientists - Hoppipolla (Sigur Ros Cover)
It’s a simple acoustic rendition of an amazing song. And while it never quite reaches the heights of a true Sigur Ros masterpiece it’s nice to hear a band really give it a go.

A guy named James Eric who does a bunch of singer/songwriter style covers of some odd songs covered Sigur Ros’ “Untitled #1″ from ( ). Pretty great actually, I think you can probably find it on Hype Machine. He also covered Timberlake’s “SexyBack”, Neutral Milk Hotel’s “Two Headed Boy”, and I think even Rage Against The Machine, if I recall correctly…
I love this version too…. we actually got married using the We Are Scientists version last year (with my bride walking in) and then used an instrumental of the Sigur Ros original as we left. Just a perfect & beautiful track.
@Paul - you sir {and your wife} are awesome.
Wow. I’d just like to second that.
I third that re: Paul’s (and wife) awesomeness!
My gf and I absolutely adore Sigur, and frequently cuddle to it, lost in the timelessness and transcendence of the moment, induced in this spiritual reverie by the music.
I think one can only enjoy this cover if he doesn’t speak Icelandic because it’s sounds a bit silly i.e. Icelandic with such heavy american (I guess) accent.
Thursday made an awesome cover of Ny Batteri. Looks like it’s been hosted here:
