Dear Regina the first time I heard your song Laughing with God didn,t understand the lyric,s call me dense if you like.Then I heard the song not with my ears but with my heart and understood the song and made me cry not bad not exactly good but thoughtful tears if that makes any sense.I am a Long Time Survivor of AIDS this August will be 21 years my pardner of the 20years and 6 months is negative still thank God.Your song made me think of the first time went to the hospital and went back three weeks later I did not know What GRID was back then Gay Related Immune Deficiency although being with one person three years before.I had a Dentist eight months before had suggested that I see a Doctor did not know what he was talking about.Six months before the Dentist was the Plasma donation place sorry Mr Bourque can no longer donate Plasma hindsight is always 20-20 now I know the why of every thing.Would I change anything No because my life as hard as it is now and then it was worth it.God dose have a sense of humor.Even though we might not see it clearly at the time things are as they are meant to be.Just thought would let you know how much I enjoy you song.Will be on a Train in August for a day an a half going an coming back to Boston Mass where the AM Gathering(AIDS MEDS GATHERING)it a ten day gathering but I had to apply to the Grant Committee for help paying Amtrak ticket and four night at the hotel for which am very Thankful.I just hope to buy your CD if in my budget so I will listen to it going an coming back.

By the look of things, I’m about a week behind, but I do really love this song…I think its a shame that her stuff is so unreliable, because when she gets it right, its fantastic, which this song just illustrates perfectly. Interestingly though, I reckon its a grower, because I wasn’t that impressed when I first heard it, but after a couple of listens, I’m hooked.

Thanks for posting this. This song is amazing, and I’m really looking forward to her new album. I heard that one of the songs on the album will be Blue Lips, which is another song I love…there is a live recording on reginaspektor.net if anyone wants to hear it.

@Jon - i know, this track is brilliant.

@Andy - not all of her music is like this track. i would even go so far as to say that about 35% of her work is not even good enough to include on an album alongside this track… hopefully her new disc is filled with clever lyrics and beautiful songs such as Laughing With, but to be honest i’m not exactly holding my breath.

I’ve never really looked into Regina Spektor… is all of her stuff like this? I am now looking forward to June 23rd - hopefully the rest of the album follows suit. I’m impressed.
