Ive got to say that i myself think that Jason Mraz is a great artist. His music is just different to what many of you are used to. You should really check out his albums. They are actually really good. just click Jason Mraz . you wont be disappointed.

Thanks for the link to Jack Johnson. I'm in the same boat in that the only Jason Mraz song I like is "I'm Yours", but I like that one quite a lot. I also adore Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s "Over the Rainbow". I'd love to have a playlist of songs with that sound.

False, boring, or just plain vanilla? Really? If you ever see him live you wouldn't think that. He's definitely got a different musical style than the artists you write about usually... but that shouldn't get him dubbed as boring. And he's definitely not false.

I am a big fan of I'm Yours... ever since it came out as a sample track back in 2005. I'm trying not to get sick of it now that it's on Top 40 radio stations. There are so many other songs on We Sing/Dance/Steal Things that are just as good as, if not better than I'm Yours. Like many great songs, it took me awhile to warm up to them and appreciate them.

What makes Jason Mraz better than Jack Johnson is that his song style changes more from album to album than Jack's songs. (I really like Jack Johnson's music, it just gets a bit old after awhile.) That, and Jason has serious chops which is what makes his live version of songs are so much better than his album versions.

This is so weird. I stumbled on your blog using the hype machine to search for an mp3 of this song. I wanted to have my friend listen to this Jason Mraz song that sounded like Jack Johnson and didn't have obnoxious lyrics...

Great minds my friend...

sorry to burst your bubble Megs but it is actually track 2 off of his latest album. you are correct in pointing out that the track I'm Yours did appear long ago as a b-side on a single. since then it's been changed a bit, made much better, and it was included on his latest disc, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things, as a proper song.

Actually, this song isn't off We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. That one's just a re-done version of the song, which was on another album.

I have to say I cannot stand this guy. I once saw him live at the Royal Albert Hall in London and "false, boring, or just plain vanilla" would have summed him up perfectly. He is so prolific in his songwriting that it is inevitable that he might one day come up with an acceptable piece of music, but then something similar was once said about chimpanzees and typewriters.

it's honest, human posts like this and your recent sigur rós post that have kept me coming back just about every day for the past two years. the perfect juxtaposition of hilarity and heartache. please, please keep it up...even after the inevitable employment.

I'm totally with you. I'm not a huge fan of Jason Mraz and yet I find myself listening to this song obsessively. It's got a bit of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Over the Rainbow" in it that I adore.

agreed... 'im yours' is a total knockout-hit
its also his best song. the backing vocals are bad-ass,
and the phrasing of the lead vocal is exquisite

to adam - yes, unemployment leads to loads of free time. fortunately in my case loads of free time leads to loads of creativity. well that and in my free time i read copiously, listen to scads of new music, and get caught up on my favorite television {all of which help fuel the massive creative force that lies behind The World Forgot}.

to hanan - to each his own. the fact that jason recorded a ton of spoken bits for his website is pretty funny. especially when you consider he probably sat in a sound room and had to record each segment ten or so times to get it just right.

confessions week is a stroke of genius.

is this the kind of brilliance that emerges when one is unemployed?

i should probably give my 2 week's notice.
