oh yes, fleetwood owns the song, no doubt. i think the pumpkins cover is the best {last i checked there were over 50 legit covers floating around on the webs} and i think dixie hens were the worst. just slaughtered it.

I prefer the Nicks/Fleetwood version of "Landslide" yet. Something about Corgan's grating voice doesn't work for me as much when the songs are stripped down. ("For Martha" aside, that is - and thanks.)

Glad you're perennially digging Over the Rhine. I have an "If A Song Could Be President"-themed bumper sticker, red white & blue, that says Bergquist/Detweiler 2008. It's great and, yeah, still timely. That whole album, The Trumpet Child, stands out, though especially "Trouble" (one of the best singles of '08 that was never a single), "I Don't Wanna Waste Your Time," and "Desperate For Love." They were on tour with Ani DiFranco this late winter actually but pulled up the reins on that when Detweiler's father unexpectedly died.

yeah... i guess i was a little ambiguous on the whole topic of landslide in this post. i was referencing the abysmal way the dixie chicks covered landslide {which i know is originally by stevie nicks / fleetwood mac} as a direct opposition to the way lismore covers 1979 here. i can see how that would be confusing seeing as that the pumpkins covered landslide as well {and did so very respectfully}.

Landslide is a good cover. But the song was not originally by the pumpkins. They Covered it as well from Stevie Nicks.
