Gossip Girl vol 09

I’m sorry for the long delay in this series. I was a bit caught up in the holidays, the end of the year, all of the lists I feel obligated to make, etc. But this series is back and better than ever. It seems as if the more I poke fun at the music used on Gossip Girl the better the selections have become on future episodes. So I hesitate to say anything good, at all, about the soundtrack until they incorporate some little known acts from New York into the lineup. I’m pushing for Zach Williams or Wakey!Wakey! Think about it. Wouldn’t it be great if the little Manhattanites went to a cool indie show at Rockwood or Southpaw? I think that would make an excellent date for Dan and Serena or Jenny and Nate {oh, I said it!}.

These songs appeared in the episode where it was revealed that Blair struggles from bulimia and has received counseling for this before. I’m sure Tom Cruise would’ve hated this episode, but who cares.

All the tracks in one zip file : here {link removed by request}

mp3 : Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous (feat Timbaland)
mp3 : Ok Go - Here It Goes Again
mp3 : Bonobo - Recurring
mp3 : Sebastian Tellier - La Ritournelle {link removed by request}
- buy it on iTunes and help out the indie label that promotes Mr. Tellier
- or get it direct from the label, Lucky Number Music
mp3 : Vanessa Carlton - Nolita Fairytale
mp3 : Will Dailey - Grand Opening

Enjoy the songs my friends. The ambient/insturmental track by Bonobo sounds achingly familiar but I cannot seem to place where I’ve heard this sound before. I’m thinking maybe, wait, I got it. It sounds just like Imogen Heap without vocals. Trust me, that’s what it is. The OK Go track is awesome, but who hasn’t heard it a thousand times by now? Also, the Sebastian Tellier track could easily have passed for an instrumental remix of a melodic Radiohead song. They clearly sound similar. The Nelly Furtado track is only popping because of Timbaland and the Vanessa Carlton track could be avoided. And in the end the Will Dailey track is solid but largely forgettable.
