Not enough good things can be said about Wakey!Wakey! This recent series of covers have been mind boggling amazing. The more I listen to these reworkings, of mostly well known songs, the more Wakey!Wakey! begins to steal the song for his own. His voice on these recordings reminds me a lot of Ben Gibbard. Now hear me out before you dismiss this upon first listen. I draw the parallel in that they both seem to have an amazing purity to their style of singing. Granted, I wouldn’t say Mike Grubbs and Ben Gibbard are imitations of each other, but there is a certain earnestness in both their voices that makes me just want to be a part of their songs.

Having first stopped by for the Sufjan days, i’m now really enjoying this Wakey! Wakey! stuff. I’m impressed, cheers for giving me another new artist to love.
Now, onto the even better news - that Sufjan track you hadnt heard of and nobody could find… a bit of poking about and sending emails to randoms later, and i have it. Good news too, it’s a fantastic little slive of Sufjan. No idea why it’s so unknown - it’s not even listed on the Sufjan fansites!
